Across the world, specialist medical centres are making astonishing advances. This often means that a particular treatment can be considered mainstream in one place, but patients elsewhere - who could benefit from the same treatments - have to wait or miss out.

Due to high capital costs and time required to spread technical expertise it can be several years before new treatments become widely available.
